Drug Name : Gold
Indications : Gold is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
Physiology :  Complex gold compounds are used in the treatmentt of severe progresive rheumatoid arthritis which is not controlled by other medical therapy. It is also used in the treatment for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The mechanism of action is not clear.
Normal Values : 0-0.1 µg/mL (0-0.5 µmol/L)
Test Method : Attomic absorption spectrometry (AA)
Side effects : Gold toxicity can cause dermatitis, pruritus, stomatitis, metallic taste, eosinophilia, leukopenia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, hematuria, proteinuria, nephrosis, and bone marrow suppression.
