Generic Name : Ecallantide
Pronunciation : e-KAL-lan-tide
TradeName : International- Kalbitor.
Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a human plasma kallikrein inhibitor, prescribed for sudden attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE).
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : 
Hypersensitivity.
When it is to be taken : 
SC- The recommended dose is 30 mg (3 mL), 3 times per day.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a solution for injection, to be administered by a healthcare provider under the skin.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side Effects : 
Headache, nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, injection site reactions, vomiting, itching, abdominal pain and fever.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it in refrigerator (2°C to 8°C).
